THE MARCIA DOLL AND ACTIVITY BOOK:
THE "MARCIA DOLL AND ACTIVITY BOOK: THE BOOK OF JOBs" WAS CREATED FOR AN EXHIBIT OF MEMBERS OF THE NEBRASKA WOMEN'S CAUCUS FOR ART AT THE LIED ART GALLERY, CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY, OMAHA IN 1998. THE THEME OF THE EXHIBIT WAS "PAPER DOLLS: SELF-PORTRAIT NARRATIVES". I CREATED A TWO-SIDED MARCIA DOLL OVER TWO FEET TALL--ONE SIDE BLACK AND WHITE AND THE OTHER COLOR. EACH OF THE JOBS I HAD AT THAT TIME WERE FEATURED IN THE "ACTIVITY BOOK" ALONG WITH THE CORRESPONDING CLOTHES AND ACCESSORIES WHICH COULD BE ATTACHED TO THE DOLL WITH VELCRO TABS. ACKNOWLEDGING THE NECESSITY OF SUPPORTING ONESELF AND ONE'S WORK, THE ARTWORK ALSO REVEALS WHICH JOBS WERE FOR LOVE AND WHICH FOR MONEY.
